How is the YWCA of Banff funded?
The work of the YWCA of Banff is funded in a very unique way, quite different from the average charity. Our objective is to minimize our reliance on donations and grants, aiming to be as self-sustaining as possible. For this reason we run a Social Enterprise, using the proceeds to help fund our work.
Social Enterprise
The YWCA of Banff owns a beautiful property on the banks of the Bow River. As a means of funding our charitable work, part of this property is operated as a lodge and hostel, welcoming guests from all over the world. This income generating enterprise helps us to achieve our mission in a more sustainable way. When someone stays, when someone books a meeting room or when someone enjoys a meal at our bistro, proceeds from our Banff Y Mountain Lodge go directly into supporting our violence prevention, subsidized housing and community programs.
Donations, Grants and Fundraisers
Whilst the majority of our funds come from self-sustaining sources, donations, grants and fundraisers continue to be a vital and significant form of income to us. Your help is vital. Your help ensures that today’s needs are met, it enables us to meet needs as they emerge and it makes it possible for us to plan for the future.
You Can Make the Difference
The YWCA of Banff has been operating as a non-profit and supporting our local community for almost 100 years. We intend to continue serving the Bow Valley for as long as the critical issues of domestic violence and affordable housing need to be addressed. Our objective is to continue building on our 100 year legacy, even during these hard economic times.
With your help we can. With your help we can continue serving this community which we respect so much. With your help we can build a healthier community for all.

It doesn’t have to be big.
-
It doesn’t have to be grand.
-
It only needs to be meaningful to you.
