How Donated Dollars Help
Every night 125 people receive subsidized housing provided by the YWCA of Banff.
Every day women and children’s lives are made safer through the violence prevention and emergency shelter services delivered by the YWCA of Banff.
And, every one of us in our local community lives a safer, healthier life as a result.
How far does a donated dollar go?
Did you know that it is more financially cost effective to prevent violence before it happens, than to pay the cost after it happens?
Did you know that without subsidized housing in Banff many service industry workers just couldn’t afford to live here?
Domestic Violence
$35 pays for a school-aged child to participate in a 10-week group program to enhance self-confidence and increase skills in building and sustaining healthy relationships.
$75 pays for a man or woman to attend a 10-week group program designed to assist in gaining insights into previous and current relationships, and be exposed to new ideas and skills in achieving healthier relationships.
$250 pays for 1 night of shelter, food and counselling for women and children fleeing from domestic violence.
$500 pays for a couple to attend 10 sessions with a counsellor, in order to offer them communication strategies and skills to help with relationship challenges.
Affordable Housing
$7 enables 1 person to stay in safe accommodation for 1 day in a double room.
$13 enables 1 person to stay in safe accommodation for 1 day in a single room.
You Can Make the Difference
It doesn’t have to be big.
-
It doesn’t have to be grand.
